ALS

we have become good friends over this past year with our hallway neighbors, and scotts co-workers, the teeters. this past weekend we joined them and some others in Stanley park to watch mike teeter and his brothers start their bike adventure from the west to the east coast. for the next two months the three brothers and their wives will venture across canada raising money for ALS, a disease that the boys lost their dad to a few years ago. it was a pretty amazing site to see these guys hop on their bike seats knowing that for the next few months that was all they were going to be doing, and for what...to remember, raise awareness and earn money for the sake of their dad..made me cry.

so while in the park, we brought our picnic and spent the day as a family hanging out in the sunshine. i made (as per usual) muffins for our lunch, poor scott, he hates picnics as he would rather eat out, and i, the money watcher, would much rather a cost efficient and healthy lunch. we often giggle about this point together as we travel over meal times often, be it the ferry, down to the states, of wherever. my comment usually goes like this, "scott would you like me to make muffins for lunch today?" scotts reply, with a slight tilt of the head and a scrunchle of the eye "umm, no worries buds, you don't need to, we can eat on the ferry." or as this past weekend went, i offered to make lunch for both our trip to the states on friday and our picnic on saturday, scotts answer to that, "how about you pick one day to make our lunch and the other day we can just buy it." so saturday was picnic day...my favorite! although i am starting to feel like my mom.

my moms lunch that she made for us since kindergarten (and by the way i am not complaining as i didn't not once have to make my lunch all the way through to grade twelve) consisted of:

2 pumpkin muffins cut and buttered
1 apple
3 homemade cookies
and later in life,
1/2 a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich
to drink, the water fountain.

my picnics:
muffins, made with flax seed
apples cut in fours
cheese for the muffins
dried fruit
chips
water

i am catching up to you mom, only a few more years and my daughter can make fun of me too!
sophie by the way found the chips...mind you, look who she is sitting with, and when i looked over he acted all surprised like, i didn't know that is what she had!

we found the play ground and the tunnel...if wanted to be it could be hours of good times. i love the progression here, umm not too sure, maybe we'll try, going through, good good, i loved it!

now that summer time has come...let me re-state that, now that we occasionally see the sunshine, on those days sophie doesn't wear an undershirt and with that, she is able to find her belly button, something that is very exciting and thus has her little hands on it all day long. by the end of the day it is usually red from being looked and touched at. not too sure what to do about that as she has even gotten into showing others this great thing that is attached to her belly...she sure is proud of it.

so this was our day at the park, bikes, tears, picnics, tunnels, and bellies. pretty fun adventure if you ask me. all this without even mentioning the car accident we were almost in on the way there...are you serious, driving in vancouver is crazy. it is called a safe driving distance, perhaps you all need to go the island for some lessons in relaxing just a little.

and a few pictures to end, they are kinda random, but show my little ones personality. the ones in the bath are with her new friend elmo, don't ask what she is doing in the one, i don't know. the others are from a picnic with my mom down at white rock...sophie and her dad and sophie pulling a little attitude, that's my girl.
until our next adventure and more pictures.

cute pics. love the belly button infatuation! It is quite an interesting thing, though, isn't it?
