fathers day

this year we spent fathers day with the zalinkos...a rather good move if i do say so myself. scott and paul have been friends for...who knows, but probably too long by the number of stories we hear, and not long enough for the number of repeat stories we hear! so i thought to myself, who better to spend a day with then friends.
rachel and i planned and were ready to go by 11:30 this morning for a day of good times to celebrate our husbands, who are turning out to be truly wonderful dads. mind you they have lots to learn...but they are on the right track!

so after telling scott this morning that we were waiting for his great auntie hilda to show up (i don't know where i come up with these things), he pretty much just looked at me and said, "so we are waiting for the zalinkos then?" what was i supposed to do, lie...i said, no, and of course made up some big story that scott just smiled at. i think he must get tired of me and my little ways...and yet i continue. anyway, today was about scott and so...the idea was to feed him his favorites. for his gift sophie gave him a box of cap'n crunch cereal, animal crackers and dark m&m's, three of his favorites...but we couldn't leave out the most important, so, when our friends arrived we made our way to the beach in white rock for a picnic and a bucket of goodness in tow.

good day spent, eating, playing, getting wet, walking, ice cream and sunshine. all with the company of friends and family...what can i say, it was a great day to celebrate these men who have grown up together and who continue to challenge one another and look out for each other. something that is missed in a lot of so called friendships.

rachel and the boys looking for crabswater timei guess i wasn't really paying much attention to her and what was happening with the hat
why is it that you can never get a nice picture when you want to capture a great moment? it is pretty great to be apart of these boys lives, to watch them interact and mature, to grow as men who love the Lord their God and honor their families.
so to them both i say, happy fathers day, blessings on you as you grown in the truth and knowledge of Jesus. thank you for loving your families and being teachable and willing to take on the role of father, you both do it well.

Looks like a great day! So thankful the sun came out!

My favorite pic of the one of Soph with the strap on her face. Made me laugh seeing it, just the cute expression on her face!
