photo album

today, i would like to share with you a glimpse of family life with the werdals. i am so enjoying our new family, but find a lack of time to write much a blog. for that i am sorry. penelope is doing well, growing strong and is very happy. sophie seems to enjoy her more than anyone and can't get enough of her during the day. penny (bless her heart) is sleeping through the nights from about eleven to eight which gives me enough sleep to go hard during the days...which is needed for the other one who does not stop...hence not much time to write. a few photos to show our days, our adventures if you will.
just so you know, when you phone us, this is what we are doing! or at least what sophie is doing! i believe this is paul on the phone.
i have found my "favorite" place to pick apples, and sophie has found a new friend. she followed this dog around trying to share her apple, but was denied. last time we were there, i picked 15.00 worth of apples...scott wanted to know if i truly was going to use the apples or if it was the romantic idea of picking apples that i was coming for...he knows me well.
my dear friend jenny was on the mainland for a bit so we got a chance to spend some time together. time that was valued and important. this is zeph, sophie and addi.
we play alot in sophie's room, and sometimes i will lay penny in sophie's bed, but it doesn't last long on her own. like i said, sophie can not get enough of this girl. i have to cover them both with the blanket just right, according to sophie, then she will get up to check it just to make sure it is right, however in getting up she moves it, so off it comes and i am told...not asked, to do it again. the finger is pointed and one word followes, "blanket!"
sophie reading to penny
nana came for a visit and walked with us along the fort to fort trail.
sophie goes on trips, i don't know where, but she goes. she gets her boots on, backpack on, grabs a book and gives hugs and kisses to anyone around, then says bye and vanishes down the hallway...coming back only a few seconds later to say "hi", then she is off again. i would love to know where she is going and what adventures she is having.
so, this is us, these are the photos that capture our days. hope you enjoyed. until later.

how much

i have a question: how much is too much? how much time do you spend with someone before you wear out your welcome? before you have spent too much time with them? signs and symptoms of too much: a. when every time you get into the car, you are asked repeatedly until your destination if you are going to see max and marty b. when random songs about max and marty are sung nearly every afternoon c. when your daughter asks if you can pray for marty at the dinner table d. when in the middle of the night your daughter wakes up saying, "bye bye marty, bye bye marty" answer: we may be spending too much time with the zalinkos

one month

dear penelope hard to believe i have had the opportunity to hold you in my arms for one month already. time seems to be lost and i can't stop it long enough to really look at you and know each part about you. you are changing so fast and i feel as if i am missing out, even though i spend my days with you. i wish i could remember you from your yesterdays but i only have what we have been given today, so i will recall through pictures which one day i hope to sit and share with you. you are well loved little one, more than i think you will understand. you are surrounded by the arms of your heavenly Father as well as those of your earthly daddy. you have family who love to sit and hold you, who just look at you and try to soak you in. your sister asks for you every morning and comes running when you cry, she loves you penny and i am so thankful for that. penelope i pray that you would know the love of our God, that your heart would be passionate and your dreams would be your realities. you are beautiful in every way...i wait to see each day, the revealing of who you have been created to be.

wednesday

wednesday, you may be wondering...what is so important about wednesday? well, it is and has been an adventure, then again every day is an adventure here at the werdal house. let me share as a picture says a thousand words. our mornings...sophie is so excited to see and be with penny. penny, which you may not be able to tell in the pictures, is crying. going out for our morning walk around campus. sophie brings her baby and is very intent on showing anyone and everyone her special baby...i want for you all to look at the face she is giving me...and we haven't even started the walk yet, we are just going for the door. these are a series of pictures where the end resulted in mom carring the baby buggy, pushing penelope in the stroller and holding the hand of sophie as we walked home in rather loud tears because after mom told us not to kick or push baby away and we continued to do so, so baby and buggy were taken away from us for the rest of the day. the best part of this story is that on the way home, i heard footsteps behind me and it was scott who was running to help me out...that is how loud sophie was crying, scott heard her in his office. a little yami for lunch always helps the day go well. and at present...sophie has not yet fallen asleep, in fact she is out of bed after being in there for some time and my sarcastic side is up after having a student walk past my window and yell out that in making the baby (sophie) cry i was a bad person and i should open the blinds on her window. i would really actually like to go and find that student and... so these are the events of wednesday...i told you it was an adventure here.
