don't forget

often i am asked if i write down the things my kids say, as i am sure you can imagine, they are pretty funny. part of me feels that i won't forget, how could i, but the other part of me remembers that i don't even know what day it is today. so here i go, writing down what has caught my attention the last two days. let me set the stage for you; i am in sophies bedroom playing with penny when i hear from the bathroom, where sophie is sitting on the potty, talk of an ice cream cone. in my head i hear her and think she is simply remembering or thinking of an ice cream cone. but the talk doesn't stop. she continues to call out... s: "ice cream cone" s: "mommy, ice cream cone" m: "yes sophie, what is it?" s: "mommy, come, ice cream cone" i head to the potty and see her standing on the ground with her head leaning over and looking in the toilet, pointing saying, s: "mommy, ice cream cone" she looks up and with a smile points again and says, s: "mommy, poo looks like ice cream cone" i have to look...who wouldn't? m: "you are right sophie, it does look like an ice cream cone" cause it did! and today... s: "mommy, looks like carrot" s: "mommy, poo looks like carrot" again, i had to agree with her! really, do you really think i am going to forget this stuff? i hope not. i don't want to forget: the girls laughter in the bathtub sophie dancing and singing the lyrics to my favorite song penny's laugh, as she literally drops her head to the ground in laughter the way sophie says penelopes name the amount of energy that both the girls have how sophie encourages penny by saying "good girl penny", after EVERY bit of food she takes i am blessed. i am tired, but i am blessed.
