weekend

who doesn't love a good long weekend. this post will be a quick look into what our days held, but for the most part all i can say is that i love being able to spend time with my family. for those of you who don't know me well, my love language is quality time...spend a little time with me, you tell me that you love me...my little love tank is full tonight.

lets start off with saturday.
saturday i had been planning for two months for a surprise half birthday party for scott as his birthday falls on december 31 and many people would rather celebrate new years than a birthday. so i thought that the boy has never had a summer birthday, and this being the year he turns 30 perhaps it would be fun to give one. so i planned a surprise costume/bbq party for his 29 1/2 birthday...good times.

for his birthday present i had asked scotts mom if she would make family capes for us all. so we went together and i picked out the fabric and what they were to look like and she imagined the rest. they were great and those of you who know scott well, know that this was a gift he was excited about. i should have gotten all three of us standing together with them on, but unfortunately i only have sophie here...scotts was two toned blue, and mine two toned purple. very sweet.

sunday was a family day which included nap times for scott and sophie and bathtub pool parties for sophie and i. we spent the day just chillin and hanging around campus.

monday we were off to the aquarium with brian and hellen. should have known that being a long weekend everyone and then some others would be there. however, it was a great time together. we watched the dolphin show and saw a shark being dissected...all very cool. then we headed to the water park and played a little, very cool too but mostly just cold.

which brings us to tuesday (today)...happy canada day. today we had another bbq, this one for all the old qwanoes people to say their hellos to brian and hellen. again, a great day with family and friends.

sophie had purple lips for most of the day due to her excitement about water. for the first half of the day she would not get out of this water slide/pool inflatable and for the second half she swam with her daddy and auntie chelsea in the big pool.

we have so enjoyed the friendship of brian and hellen (and sophie loves maya) and are so thankful for their yearly visits. although i have to say that i am looking forward to thursday when they leave as that will be that day that i can see scott in the evenings!

so last year when they were out, this is the picture we got of maya and sophie. we took the same picture this year. what a big difference a year makes.
sophie and her grandma.

brian read my blog a few weeks ago and created two t-shirts for our girls...they were perfect, almost like the real deal.
so, with sophie in bed and scott off playing with the boys, i am nearly ready for bed myself, just need to drink a little more water to wash down all the sweets i have eaten over the past few days...who am i kidding, i eat sweets everyday. i hate being pregos! but i guess it is all worth it when they end up like this...

I can always count on your blog to give me a good laugh (aka picture of Sophie with the t-shirt on, lying down and crying). I've got a few pics that I need to print off and put in frames of that little one.

Hilarious.

so very cute. i love the pictures. great idea on scott's 29 1/2 birthday :)
i love the comparison shot with maya and soph from last year to this year. But it seems like Maya's the only one who has grown any hair...? ;)

Great post! The party for Scott was awesome! You did a super job and we enjoyed being able to celebrate with you! Loved the capes, by the way.

And cool waterslide thingy at the Tuesday BBQ! That looks like loads of fun! Wish we'd made it out!
