beach days

growing up, my mom used to take us to the beach all the time. she and her friend june used to take their collective five girls, coolers full of food (always a pumpkin muffin or two), beach towels and tell us to not come back until we were in desperate need of one of them, desperate meaning someone was drowning. we played in the ocean for hours...well i did, my sister read, enjoying the sunshine on her face. even now, beach days are a regular part of both my sisters and my life style. pack it up, and spend the day at the beach. take a picnic lunch, lots of extra clothes and enjoy the day. it was a definite plus to move back toward the west coast and smell the sweet salt air in the breeze. if it is a sunny day, you can count on finding scott and i with our girls enjoying the sand between our toes and i love it. i love building memories with my family. memories that include all of us together, memories that one day sophie and penny can build off of. it fills my heart.
giving penny a little shade
auntie chels and uncle scotty came to play with us for the afternoon sophie water skiing, chelsea and scotty would run as fast as they could holding sophie up so that her feet were just on top of the water.
finding out about wet sand and how fun it is to dump it on your sister
our little family. sophie two and a half, penny nine months.
