time with nana

so school started and sophie and i escaped to nana's house...we came back to a crazy number of 18 year old teens super excited to be out on their own for the very first time...me, i am just waiting for papers and such to start so they settle down a bit. nana, sophie and i had a great time together and played almost every day. a few pictures to capture our time; on sunday we ventured to goldstream park, a favorite of mine that scott is tired of hearing of. this is a place that i grew up going to on school field trips and family outings...i just love seeing the stinky fish and walking the trails. monday night i reunited with two old and great friends...liana and frieda. let me tell you a little about these two. it started in grade seven with sitting together, playing colored eggs together, eating crap bats together and having sleepovers together. now fast forward to today and it is much the same...minus the colored eggs and add peeing together! i am blessed to have them in my life. next came tuesday, which included a visit to beacon hill park to see the goats and ducks. the ducks were great as sophie would call them to come. the goats amazed her to begin with and then nana found her a brush for them... wednesday we were together with the osman's and headed out for fort rod hill; friday found sophie and i upisland for an hour to visit with my dad, pick apples, watch the lizards, eat tomatoes and play with the sheep; saturday night was spent with my grandparents (gigi and papa), i only wish i had more photos of this night. sophie was rather tortured by them and loved every second of it...i should say, she was tortured by papa, who is no longer allowed unsupervised visits! sunday my mom and i walked along dallas road and played at the beach; and that was that. a very nice time spent with nana, building memories and having lots of fun together. thanks for having us over mom and sharing your holidays with us...more and more you are proving that you may be ready for unsupervised visits!

pixie's unite

today was a day for a pixie's delight. the invitation reads; "sparkles and wings and charlee's favorite things, climbing and flying, under the canopy spying pixies wear white to hide in plain sight with jitters and giggles and pockets of dust here's hoping to see you, your presence a must" and so knowing that i hold a very special pixie in my midst, we ventured to join others on a very special day, charlee's second birthday.
happy birthday charlee
pixie's earning their hats
pixies catching bubbles with their magical wands...and stealing more wands
pixies united for a garden celebration
a beautiful and delightful afternoon, full of wings, bubbles and kindness. however....my pixie is supposed to be sleeping but is instead still singing charlee her happy birthday song!

best ever

i know that many of you out there will claim to have the best husband ever, and for that i am thankful. however, today is my day, it is my turn to share with you about the best ever, regardless of your own personal biases.

scott continues to show me daily different ways to love and laugh. truly i am blessed to call him my husband, friend and lover. when i think of the days we have already spent together my heart leaps at what is to come. at night when it is just the two of us, we can giggle and share our struggles in the comfort of shared love and friendship. we recalled last night one of the worst (gross) moments of my life and yet during that time there was no shame or even second thought to having scott help me...pretty sweet if you ask me. during our days when there are three of us, scott is so involved and present. he truly cares for our family and makes every effort to be a father and husband that we girls will be proud of. i am so excited to watch he and sophie interact and laugh together, they play hard and love each other well. as a daughter, i know the importance of having a father that shares with you their joy and delight in you, this sophie already and will continue to receive. it does my heart good to watch him become the father he always wanted but didn't always have...which is a constant thought on his mind. he is becoming a man after the Lords own heart.

i am honored to share my days with him, and though words fail her, i know through her actions that sophie is too.

playing in the sand is hard and serious work you know

digging holes with her dad, and trying to avoid falling in...then you just get in and dig from the inside out!

jumping with dad...she is very bossy, pointing at the water she would say to scott, "jump" and point again as if to make her request more clear.

time to go, sufficiently dirty and cold

after our day together, my heart was full and i turned to scott and said thank you. thank you for being such a wonderful husband. for loving me well and knowing how important it is to me to take our family outside to create memories. thank you for loving our daughter so well, for playing with her all day, making her laugh and trusting you in all situations.

some men are not involved with their families, for them my heart hurts. i am blessed to stand beside a man who knows what it means to cherish and care for your loved ones. for that i am thankful.
