ice cream, kites, and waves

three rather important details in a great adventure.
we set out friday morning to pick some parts up for the van
side note: trip preparations are underway.
then made the desired location of edaleen dairy the number one stop on the way over to birch bay.
blue, blue bubble gum ice cream.
didn't really think about it until i helped penny lick hers...
almost made me throw up in my mouth.
don't know how those kids do it, but they loved every. single. bite.
we loaded back into the car and headed down to the beach.
we wore flip flops.
we made sandcastles.
we collected shells.
we {flew} the kite.
we laughed at our non kite flying skills.
we waded through the water.
we threw rocks.
we had a picnic lunch.
we came home with red colored cheeks from the sun.
this was a favorite day for me.

listen learn love

its a time to be intentional with our kids.
a time to help them listen to others.
a time to help them learn from others and a time to help them love others.
designed by four ladies, we meet once a week for an hour of school time, followed by many more minutes of conversations, play time, banana bread, encouraging, and sometimes soul sharing. during our hour the kids are engaged in a time of hands on learning usually in the form of crafts, physical fitness, memory verses and silent still learning. each mom teaches once a month and each month is formed into a theme. september was dedicated to school, october the farm, november was manners, december the birth of Jesus, january i can't remember, february was shapes and colors and march, was about art.
each theme has been tackled with creativity; puppets, treasure hunts, pizza making, and painting all with the purpose of growing our dear little children. we desire them to be full of character, full of knowledge, and full of life. so when the month of march came and the theme was art, nothing less was expected.
miss carleigh introduced us with the making of clay sculptures. miss ashley followed with painting, showing us how to make strokes and blobs. it was my turn next and i (tired) to teach about the preforming arts. miss jenne was last, teaching the importance of fashion and costume making.
last night was our art show. for daddys and grandparents.
start time; 6:30.
ice cream desert to follow.
we all gathered and shared a dinner of pizza and then the kids got into their costumes and headed downstairs for a dress rehearsal. our guests were shown to their seats and the show started. the kids danced their choreographed number to the musical cats. there was art hanging on walls, tucked in corners and displayed with style and class. miss vida blues art corner:
miss sophie and penny's art display: mr. oliver's master pieces: miss charlee, mr. bodhi and miss jane's collection of art:
there were cheers and applause.
there were smiles from ear to ear.
there were flowers handed out.
there were very proud parents.
the kids showed their dads and friends the art work they had been working on all month.
lastly, we had ice cream. i think there was lots of ice cream consumed by little people. i think they all deserved it.
our hearts, our kids. by families; -vida blue and ever- -sophie and penelope- -freddie and oliver- -bodhi, charlee and jane-
the four us, friends, comrades and teachers
i am, we were all, so very proud of our little group of preschoolers. they have become like family, they are all so very lovely and beautiful. i am so very thankful to be apart of this amazing group. truly a blessing. truly a blessing.
